2019 Annual Report – Our Year in Review

2019 has been an exciting year for Mekong Club!

We have reached tens of thousands of people in hundreds of organisations across the world, spreading awareness of modern slavery and training companies on how to make a difference in the fight against this crime.

We truly are greater than the sum of our parts, and in 2019 our community grew even stronger. We continue to thrive through our partnerships with companies, academia, and other NGOs. We welcomed 8 new members to our business association, bringing fresh perspectives and diverse expertise to our banking, apparel and footwear, hospitality, and retail working groups.

Our efforts are being recognised in the media, we have been nominated for awards, and featured at events and conferences. We welcomed the increasing attention that the issue of modern slavery is receiving across the globe.

We have been exploring innovation, and advanced our tech projects eMin and Apprise, reaching workers in factories in Bahrain, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and several other countries.
We launched a series of activities focused on responsible recruitment, a key component of any anti-slavery strategy. We have been collaborating with expert partners on this theme to bring you new webinars, events, resources, and tools – watch our ‘events’ page to get involved.

We would like to thank our association members, partners, donors and supporters for their trust in our work and their openness to discuss, develop and experiment with new solutions. We look forward to working together this year.

Together, we can end modern slavery!
