Australia’s Modern Slavery Act of 2018 mandates that large businesses earning over $100 million per year must submit statements to the Modern Slavery Register evaluating modern slavery risks, including human trafficking, forced labour and debt bondage, within their supply chains. These statements demonstrate compliance with respecting human rights by addressing coercion or deception undermining freedom. Smaller companies sometimes voluntarily report to build experience with impending requirements, or credibility on this important issue. Click here for more on the Act’s implications.
