Join The Mekong Club for a members working group session exploring the links between climate change, migration and human rights, and the implications for supply chains in Asia.

Climate change is increasingly shaping livelihoods, labour mobility and working conditions across the region. Climate-related shocks and slow-onset environmental change can affect where and how people work, influence decisions to migrate, and increase vulnerabilities for workers.

The session will feature insights from an expert with experience in labour migration, migrant inclusion and the links between migration, climate change and development.

The discussion will consider the broader regional context, including how climate-related impacts are affecting livelihoods, labour markets and migration patterns. Drawing on case studies from Malaysia and Thailand, the session will explore how these dynamics are playing out in practice and what they may mean for workers and businesses.

The session will include a presentation, followed by an open discussion and Q&A. It will provide a valuable forum for members to exchange perspectives, share insights and consider how climate-related migration and human rights risks can be identified, prevented and addressed through responsible business practices.
